HOLISTIC PRACTICE

PHILOSOPHY

The National Institute of Health (NIH) and World Health Organization (WHO) have both given formal approval for the use of acupuncture in treating numerous health conditions and diseases, after extensive controlled clinical trials for which acupuncture has proven to be an effective treatment.

The benefits are as follows:

  • Relieves pain

  • Alleviates nausea

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Normalizes disorders

  • Reduces nicotine cravings

  • Boosts immune system

  • Can be used with traditional and other healing modalities without contraindications

  • Can be used even if a client is on blood thinners

Blood Tests have shown Acupuncture does the following:

  • Repair damaged tissues and create new healthy tissue

  • Modulate the neuroendocrine system

  • Vasodilate injured body part

  • Reduce swelling in the nerve endings that keep sending pain signals to the brain.

This is a practice of highly personalized, participatory care. Each client is given assignments to further obtain and maintain results. Education is an important piece in self-care and homeostasis maintenance. The practitioner utilizes acupuncture in conjunction with eastern nutrition, qigong exercises, stress reduction and breathing practices to help achieve the most optimal level of care possible.

Light is the basis of all communication, information and the innate intelligence of the body. Microcurrent appears to act as a carrier for externally applied light, helping it penetrate more deeply in the body more easily. Dr. Perricone, author "7 Secrets to Beauty and Anti-aging", recommends light and current to rejuvenate the face naturally. The microcurrent is said to match the strength of the body's own electrical charge and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. This is a method of neuromuscular re-education and helps the body to minimize the facial patterns it has been holding for years.

Acupuncture:

Inserting hair-thin needles into specific spots throughout the body to help the body heal a wide range of disorders. The effect of needling therapy is to restore blood, nutrient, and vital oxygen flow; assist tissue healing, relax muscles, relieve pain, and promote the ability of the body to maintain its biochemistry within specific ranges by adjusting to the demands or homeostasis.

Electro-acupuncture:

Administering a mild current through acupuncture needles, usually by attaching wires from an electrical stimulating device to the handles of the acupuncture needles with small clips. This therapeutic approach can be used to stimulate an endorphin response.

Moxibustion:

Burning a specific herb known as "moxa" (Artemisia vulgaris) at specific acupuncture points to stimulate or enhance the function of points. It is generally used for conditions of weakness or cold. The method utilized in the clinic is called “direct moxibustion” where a small piece the size of a rice grain is burned on the skin, leaving no marks, blister or bruises. This is painless thermal stimulation of the point.

Cupping:

Using a glass cup or silicone cup to create a localized expansion of the tissue. A vacuum is created inside the cup and then placed on the skin. The suction inside the cups is used to increase blood flow to painful areas and resupply nutrients.

Gua sha:

Scraping the skin gently using a flat tool to enhance circulation and believed to remove toxic heat, blood and lymph from the body. This tool is pushed along the surface of the skin at a 45-degree angle to draw fluid to the skin’s surface from deep within the tissue.

Herbs and Supplementation:

Prescribing Chinese herbs or supplements according to the individual’s constitution and presentation. This therapeutic approach can promote the body’s ability to heal and recover from illness. The body’s capacity to heal can be depleted by stress, too much or too little exercise, and inadequate rest or diet.

Psychological Acupressure (EFT):

A needle-less technique that is quite gentle and allows one to achieve substantial relief. It is a technique that is related to acupuncture, except without the use of needles. Instead, acupressure is applied to stimulate well-established meridian points on your body.

The premise of this work is rooted in the idea that "The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system." And because physical pains and diseases are connected with emotions, the following statement has proven to be true. "Unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pain and diseases." This technique can be used for phobias, stress, anxiety, traumatic memories, grief, addictions, fear, etc.

LED Light Therapy:

Light therapy now offered and combined with or without acupuncture for enhanced therapeutic results. The gentle, pulsing LED light wavelengths are used to increase circulation, to relieve pain. Although gentle, silent and cool to the touch, low-level light therapy is naturally effective on a cellular level. Unlike painkillers, not only does light therapy relieve pain, it also addresses the underlying condition by stimulating the body’s innate healing abilities. The medical LED light therapy devices are FDA cleared for increasing circulation and reducing pain.
